FUE Hair Transplant

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a non-invasive procedure for obtaining hair for transplantation. Trained technicians, under the direct supervision of the physician, obtain these ‘healthy’ hairs from the sides and back of your head. It involves making a small, round incision on the scalp that surrounds the follicular unit and isolates it from the tissue around it. The follicular unit, normally in a cluster of 1-4 hairs, is then extracted from the scalp and the process is repeated multiple times until the desired number of grafts is obtained. Once the follicular unit grafts are extracted from the donor area, the recipient (balding) sites are prepared with a special instrument. The follicular units are then carefully planted into these tiny sites. Once in their new place on the scalp, the follicular units will continue to grow into follicles that produce healthy hair. This method of extracting individual follicular units is what differentiates FUE from Follicular Unit.
